DESCRIPTION: A bright white shirt is classic, and so deserves a more classical approach to the drawing and composition. I wanted to keep it very simple, clean, and refined.
DESCRIPTION: This such a sassy pose. The hat and dress work perfectly together, too. There’s something both formal and cheeky about all the elements that make up this image.
DESCRIPTION: The simple slip she wears is great to work with – to draw the satin finish, and as a garment for the model it allows lots to compositional variety. We did quite a few poses using the slip.
DESCRIPTION: Pose, gesture, and text come together. Part of a series where I am combining word and image, specifically the quotes of Lady Macbeth. Most of us are familiar with the Shakespeare’s play, so we can easily identify the source of the quote. The pose is sufficiently dramatic for the drama of Lady Macbeth.
DESCRIPTION: A yukata is a Japanese robe, usually worn in summer. Made of cotton, it a comfortable to wear and often comes in these fascinating design. I love this simple yet dramatic pattern, and used it to challenge myself with the intricacies of drawing it. I like my model, too.
