About: Leah has been one of my regular models for years, and is a sheer pleasure to work with. She has a well-proportioned strong body, and the steady calm of her personality comes through in Morning. The modest-sized drawing was one of a series that suggested a yoga-like morning practice before a rising sun.
About: I knew when first seeing this Scaramouche mask that Julia would be the right model to wear it. This was one of many studies I did with the mask and model in a variety of poses. With Julia, every pose is great.
About: This was Steve’s very first modeling session at Lane Community College. He’s a truly massive guy, and distinct from most models we work with. It was satisfying just to present the solidness and bulk of his body. For me, the shear sculptural quality of his head and magnificent beard was what engaged my attention.
About: Azlyn is immensely creative in her poses and use of props. Her youthful attraction to melodrama is evident in Victory. I suggested the boxing gloves and she proposed the skull and created the pose. The vigor of the drawing very much reflects Azlyn’s personality.
