Portrait of J

DESCRIPTION: This such a sassy pose. The hat and dress work perfectly together, too. There’s something both formal and cheeky about all the elements that make up this image.

SIZE: 10″ H x 6″ W (unframed)

ABOUT: This picture was very much the result of a discussion with my model about her gender identity. I had planned on doing a double portrait, where there is a sense of movement, transition, or more than one aspect of a personality. Immediately after she left from the session, I began work on this painting and decided to add the rainbow colors. It aligns so well with how she feels about herself, and her place in the world. It’s a happy picture!

ABOUT: One of my most favorite models for her inhibition and comfort in her sexuality. We had decided to do a session of explicit poses, and she was pleased to be able to demonstrate her inventiveness. Her joy comes through in the poses she created.

MEDIUM: Watercolor on paper.

SIZE: 11″ W x 9.5″ H (unframed)
