ABOUT: I’m interested by the suggestion of movement, and how to present that in a drawing. Undressing is the perfect gesture to portray that where there is figure and an object, here an item of clothing. This is drawing 3 of a set of 3, though each drawing stands alone.
MEDIUM: Lumograph pencil, colored pencil, and pastel on paper.
DESCRIPTION: My model, A, embodies the steampunk image in the way she dresses and presents herself. She loves the fantasy element that it offers. Responsive to my models, their interests and what they bring to a session, I wish to bring this into the art that I create.
DESCRIPTION: Pose, gesture, and text come together. Part of a series where I am combining word and image, specifically the quotes of Lady Macbeth. Most of us are familiar with the Shakespeare’s play, so we can easily identify the source of the quote. The pose is sufficiently dramatic for the drama of Lady Macbeth.
DESCRIPTION: She’s so expressive in her poses. With a background in dance and theater, J is so expressive and one of my most frequent models. The splash of color dramatizes the tension of the dragging action of the form.
DESCRIPTION: This is one of a series I did on the Muses, and here the Muse of Music. I’m bringing this classical subject up to date with a transgender, non-binary model, S. They perform burlesque and drag, and are a wonderful model creating dramtic poses.
