ABOUT: There’s something about hats that immediately transform someone and evoke associations. The three-pointed hat evokes pirates, or a rebellious nature.
MEDIUM: Lumograph, colored pencil, and pastel on paper
ABOUT: There’s great appeal in drawing faces, though it’s only the sitter or those who know him/her who are interested in seeing the drawing. I’m not always concerned about getting a precise likeness as I am in getting the expression right. In this drawing, I worked hard to get a good likeness.
ABOUT: I usually focus on the unclothed figure, though excursions into the clothed body, are very satisfying. My model brought lots of interesting clothing options. These pants are the best.
ABOUT: My model was very pleased with the clothes she brought to our session, and rightly so. These were fun to draw. There may be more of this in the future.
ABOUT: This was a study sketch for a series of watercolors, No Evil: Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, See No Evil, and Do No Evil. The pencil drawings were preparations for the paintings.
