ABOUT: Each chair tells you how to sit in it. The Chinese chair has an elegance and refinement. It compliments the body and encourages us to find dignity in it. I like how the fine lines of the chair ‘appreciate’ the full figure of Gabrielle. It was an enjoyable session with her.
ABOUT: Props are all important, not only to compliment the form of the models, but to communicate meaning. The African stool is wonderfully comfortable to sit on, and it beautifully accepts the shape of Sarah, my model. I like how a title asks you to consider the relationship between the elements in the painting.
ABOUT: Though a sketch for a small series of watercolors, No Evil (Hear, See, Do, and Speak No Evil), it is also a complete and ‘finished’ as a drawing. It is more than a casual sketch.
